Ok, here's what we gonna do....we gonna start a boat build'n hobby blog. Any bet's on how this is gonna work out???
I remember a few years back when I built this "Mississippi Riverboat" stern wheeler. This was a years worth of my precious time to construct an' then, convert'n it from a static shelf model into a remote control "go out on the lake" boat. At a later point, the fake wood constructed boiler was removed an' a new fake aluminum boiler was installed. Inside the new boiler, a homebrew smoke generator was installed. The solid wooden stacks were removed an' replaced with 5/8 inch rigid copper tubing. With all the fancy stuff fabricated to look like the original wood stacks. The smoke generator operates off of a 7.2 volt battery....blow smoke up in the air out the stacks.
To this date, this boat is still not completed. Railings need installed on the top deck. Boarding ramp is in need of re-rigging where clumsy fingers knocked it loose.
After three years of sitting on a shelf in "Sally da house" (my motorhome), the bottom hull planking began to crack, breaking the layers of bottom paint. To correct this cracking, and to raise the boat 1/4 inch in the water, 1/2 inch of new bottom was added. And painted. Remote control electronics were rewired an' a second battery was installed for longer run time. Have ya ever played with a remote control Mississippi river boat on the water? 30 minutes is just not enough time.
After the latest modifications, the "Chaperon" has yet to cruise a lake.
